On the occasion of World Kidney Day, Dispur Hospitals today organised a dialysis patients-doctors interactive session. At the session, several patients and their families interacted with doctors and specialists from the hospital on Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD) and its treatment.
The panelists included the hospital doctors Dr T A Choudhury, Nephrologist, Dr Banajit Choudhury, Cardiologist, Dr Neelav Sharmah, Neurologist and others. The programme started with a speech by Dr T A Choudhury who focused on the prevalence of CKD and its treatment. Dr Choudhury said, " World Kidney Day started in 2006. We celebrate this day every year in our hospital by organising camps. The sole purpose of conducting this camp is to make the people understand the importance of the disease." He stressed on the importance of healthy diet and good lifestyle.
Addressing the audience, Dr Banajit Choudhury said, "All the vitals organs of our body like kidney, heart and brain are related to each other. When one gets affected, automatically the others also suffer. So, we should maintain a good lifestyle to make sure that we remain healthy always."
Dr Neelav Sharmah said that kidneys and the nervous system are co-related. One should take medicines only under doctor's supervision. Taking medicines on one's own may lead to kidney damage which may in turn affect our nervous system. The talk was followed by an interactive session between the doctors and patients.
