Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi inaugurated the 118th Ramdia Raas Mahotsav in Hajo today. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said, “Raas Leela is not just about dancing and singing. It is about unity and trust that all the Gopis have in Lord Krishna.
The Gopis feel secured with Lord Krishna shower hymns of adulation on him”. He also said that the main character of Raas Lila is Lord Krishna.
The dance performed by hundreds of gopis centering round Lord Krishna is known as “Raas Krira”. Raas Krira symbolises the meeting ground of human soul with divinity. In the raas krira, gopies symbolise the human and Lord Krishna symbolises the divine soul. This theory of human and divine soul is the basis of raas krira.
