Guwahati, Oct 1: Noted Bollywood actor Adil Hussain who hails from Assam, wins the best actor award for his film ‘Pareeksha’ at ‘Indo-German’ Film Week in Berlin on Wednesday. Hussain won the award for his bold acting in film ‘Pareeksha’ for his character of ‘Bucchi Paswan’.
“Thrilled to have received the Best Actor Award for the role of Buchchi Paswan in Pareeksha
@Pareeksha2020 at the #IndoGermanFilmWeek in Berlin last night. Thank You for this recognition. I share this Award with dearest @prakashjha27. And of course with the entire team,” tweeted the actor to announce his achievement.
Based on a real-life story, Pareeksha is about a rickshaw puller in Bihar whose desire to see his son attend the city’s best English-medium private school, surmounts all else. The desperation to get out of the hell called poverty is most visible in Bucchi Paswan's eyes.
Written and directed by Prakash Jha, the film holds a steady course as it parlays this familiar underdog-fighting-the-odds narrative into a moving, pointed, crisply edited melodrama.
