CID seize over Rs 24.88 lakh from P K Dutta’s employee

Guwahati, Oct 14: The CID of Assam Police in connection with the investigation into Police SI examination question paper leak scam recovered an amount Rs 24,88,300 from the rented residence of an arrested person, Jaydeep Brooah, located in Nabagiri Path under Chandmari Police Station in the city.
The recovered money was collected by the arrested accused and former DIG, P K Dutta from candidates of SI posts and he had handed over the bag containing cash to Jaydeep Borooah with instruction to conceal it. Jaydeep Borooah was an employee of P K Dutta.
Jaydeep Borooah was arrested by CID in case no. 21/20 and was admitted to GMCH as he tested COVID positive after his arrest. Today, he was produced before court which allowed police remand of 5 days.
Based on his confession and as led by him, CID recovered Rs 2488300 (twenty-four Lac eighty-eight thousand three hundred) which was kept in a bag in presence of executive magistrate and independent witnesses. Entire process of search and seizure was video-graphed.
