Guwahati, Oct 17: Today is Kati Bihu and the people of Assam are celebrating the festival amidst the COVID-19 scare.
Kati bihu is an important Assamese festival, observed in October. Also known as Kongali Bihu, Kati Bihu has a different flavor then Magh Bihu and Bohaga Bihu as there is less merriment. Kati bihu is observed in October when the paddy in the fields are in the growing stage and the granaries of the farmers are almost empty.
On Kati Bihu, earthen lamps are lit at the foot of the household tulsi plant, the granary and the paddy fields.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal extended Kati Bihu wishes to the people of the state. "The green fields are a symbol of the hard work and hope of our farmers. May these hopes be fulfilled in the days to come and may the Kati Bihu lights bring prosperity to the people of Assam," Sonowal tweeted.
Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, "তুলসীৰ তলে তলে মৃগপহু চৰে,
