Guwahati, Nov 3: Four persons including two forest staffs from Kaziranga National Park and two miscreants involved in illegal rhino horn trade were arrested today as part of ongoing investigation into involvement of Kaziranga National Park staff in the rhino horn trade.
A team of forest personnel led by the DFO Ramesh Gogoi along with Assam Police arrested forest staffs Bimola Saikia and Sabir Ahmed Laskar last night and subsequently arrested Nur Islam and Abdul Ali of Kuthari area on the basis of their confession.
The arrested forest staff allegedly sold rhino horns collected inside Kaziranga National Park to Nur Islam and Abdul Ali.
All the four where sent to judicial custody on their production in a court in Bokakhat today.
Sources informed that more arrests were likely on the basis of confession made by Nur Islam and Abdul Ali.
The ongoing investigation into the nexus between Kaziranga forest staff and illegal traders of rhino horns have so far resulted in arrest pf 25 persons including two permanent forest staff and eight temporary forest staff from Kaziranga National Park (KNP).
