Massive fire engulfs Marowari Patty area in Jorhat city

Guwahati, Dec 21: A massive and unprecedented fire broke out at Marowari Patty area, the main wholesale business hub in Jorhat city in upper Assam, at around 10 pm tonight causing huge loss to property even as a number of fire engines of Assam State Fire Services have failed to restrict the fre from spreading from one business establishments to other in no time. A multi-storied residential building too has been engulfed by the huge fire till the time of filing of this report. 

The fire spread in no time as the area is full of garments stores, disposable items wholesale establishments, PoL business establishments, canvas houses etc. which were all gutted and embolden the fire that already caused huge losses to property. Sounds of blasting of several LPG cyclers were heard that created panic among the people in the area. 

The firefighting continued till the time of filing of this story while the inferno was far from being controlled.
