Guwahati, Feb 1: A G20 delegation was amazed at the magnificence of the Kaziranga National Park (KNP) in Assam, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, when they were taken on jeep safari in Bagori and Kohora Ranges of the national park known for its treasure trove one-horned Indian rhinoceros.
Prior to undertaking Jeep Safari, the delegates who were accorded a grand welcome, visited the Kaziranga National Park Convention Centre and Kohora where they were briefed about the various wildlife friendly initiatives and activities undertaken for the conservation of wildlife by the Kaziranga National Park authorities.
India for the first time is hosting the G20 summit after assuming the presidency from Indonesia on December 1, 2022 with the theme of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One Earth • One Family • One Future”.
India holds the Presidency of the G20 from 1st December 2022 to 30th November 2023.The G20 or Group of 20 is the one of world's leading platforms for international economic cooperation.
The G20 was founded in 1999 after the Asian financial crisis as a forum for the Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors to discuss global economic and financial issues.
This year's G20 summit is also attended by nine guest countries as well as the invited International Organisations .As part of the current G20 summit, five meetings will be held in Guwahati and Dibrugarh.
Of these meetings, it will be held in Guwahati from 2nd to 3rd February 2023, from 6th to 8th February 2023, from 13th to15th March 2023, from 3rd to 5th April, 2023 and in Dibrugarh from 24th to 25th March, 2023.
