Guwahati, Feb 20: Assam Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Himanta Biswa Sarma who is also the convenor of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) has exudes confidence that the party will form government in Meghalaya on its own after the February 27 Assembly election.
Sarma said this after briefly meeting the party’s candidate from Nongpoh constituency, Marian Maring at her residence on Sunday evening before leaving for Shillong to oversee the party’s campaign for the upcoming polls scheduled to be held on February 27.
‘For the first time, BJP is contesting in all 60 seats. I was there in Tura in the last two days, I have seen a lot of support for BJP this time, even in Ri Bhoi our candidate is doing good and I believe that this time we will be able to form a government in Meghalaya, ' Sarma said.
The senior BJP leader who played a crucial role in formation of the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government in the hill state after 2018 Assembly polls with BJP as a constituent of the ruling alliance, has been campaigning extensively for the party in the state.
