Guwahati, Feb 5: The BJP-led Assam government today scripted a record in teacher’s appointment in the state by distributing appointment letters to 29701 teachers in a ceremony held at Sarusajai stadium in Guwahati today.
The appointment letters were distributed in the presence of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonwal and Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma.
' We deliver on our promises. Provincialisation of 4,260 schools and appointment of 29,701 teachers, the biggest recruitment drive by our Govt, reiterates our commitment to the people. I believe these new appointees will carry forward the vision of the noble profession,' Sonowal said in a tweet.
Out of the total 29,701 appointments, 16,484 are teachers and non-teaching staffs in schools, junior colleges and colleges whose services have been provincialised. The remaining 13,217 (TET qualified) are fresh appointments.
As many as 1,698 primary schools have been provincialised as a result of which 3,309 teachers have been benefited from the process. Further, 2,107 ME schools have been provincialised as per which 6,586 teachers have been benefited.
In addition, 264 high schools have been provincialised in which 2,269 teachers have been benefited while four higher secondary schools have been provincialised through which 31 teachers’ posts have been regularized.
Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated the teachers and the staff on the ocassion. Taking to Twitter he wrote, ' LARGEST RECRUITMENT EVER! A matter of great pride as we handed over 29701 appointment letters to teachers & non-teaching staff today, first ever such drive in Assam. Congratulations to all deserving teachers & staff. We count on your contribution.'
