Heroin seized in Shillong, 4 held

Guwahati, Feb 13: A team of Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Meghalaya Police today seized a consignment of contraband heroin and arrested fourpersons in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off that an illegal consignment of some contraband substance was being brought in a Network Travels bus to Shillong from Manipur to be delivered to a person by the name of Lhunkhojang Kuki at Demthring Petrol Pump in Shillong, the ANTF team mounted vigil in the area and intercepted the the person immediately after he had taken delivery of a box containing suspected contraband substance from the driver of the bus at around 9 am.
Opening the box in presence of independent witnessesm the ANTF team recovered 10 soap cases containing a powdery substance fromthe box. The powder tested positive for contraband heroin. The net weight of heroin recovered was found to be 117.58 gm. Four accused have been arrested and a case registered under NDPS Act.

Guwahati, Dec 29: Sleuths of Crime Branch of city police along with personnel from Jorabat Police Outpost today arrested five persons and seized 872 grams of contraband heroin kept in soap cases.
Police informed that based on a specific input regarding illegal drug trade at Ghanshyam Basti, Jorabat here a team of Crime Branch of Guwahati Police along with ACP Basistha and personnel of Jorabat Outpost conducted a search operation in the house of Rekha Gogoi, W/o Jatin Gogoi of Ghanshyam Basti and recovered and seized 72 packets of suspected heroin in soap-case containers weighing about 872 grams. A cash amount of Rs. 22,000 was also seized.
The police team apprehended five persons in connection with seizure of contraband drugs. The arrested persons are:

Wahidur (31) S/O - Lt. Ishir of Sora Awang Ching, Leikai PS – Kakching Thoubal, Manipur; Alok Gogoi, S/o Jatin Gogoi and Rekha Gogoi

Heroin worth Rs 42.8 lakhs seized in Mizoram by Assam Rifles

Aizawl , January 28 : The Assam Rifles on Wednesday seized 107 grams of heroin worth Rs 42.8 lakhs and illegal foreign goods worth Rs 12.8 lakhs in the Beraw Lui Veng area of Aizwal.
According to the Assam Rifles, the recovered items have been handed over to the concerned departments. "#AssamRifles troops in Mizoram on 27 Jan intercepted and recovered 107 grams of Heroin worth approx Rs 42.8 Lakhs and illegal foreign goods worth approx Rs 12.8 Lakhs from general area Beraw Lui Veng (Aizawl). Carriers and recovered items handed over to the concerned department," they tweeted.
