Guwahati, Dec 29: The 47th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) based at Gopalpur under Guwahati Frontier today organised an exhibition of photos and weapons to showcase the heroic deeds the country’s Border guards during the Bangladesh Liberation War 1971 at Rupeshwar Roy Higher Secondary School, Bara Madhusudan.
The exhibition organised to pay tributes to the Bangabandhu (Seikh Mujibur Rahman) on his centenary birth year, was inaugurated by Brigadier R S Rawat (Retd) in the presence of Upendra Rai, Commandant 47th Battalion, officers, troops.
Students and people of border area thronged to witness the exhibition and were highly overwhelmed to see the glorious past of Border men. A movie clip of BSF documentary was also shown to students.
A civic action programme was also organized at the same venue. Pesticide sprayers and dairies amounting to Rs 70,910 were distributed among Aanganwadis and needy people of border area respectively. Public representatives of all border villages under Sitalkuchi block along with villagers and students participated.
