Guwahati, Jan 12: Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today extended greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Vivekananda Jayanti.
The Governor tweeted, "Remembering the great saint of the nation Swami Vivekananda on his birth anniversary on #NationalYouthDay.
I wish all the youth of the nation to conquer the challenges with the wisdom and teachings of Swami Vivekananda."
In another tweet the Governor said, "People across the globe should be acquainted with the ideals and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda and shape a strong character and cultivate enormous love for the nation. Hope his phenomenal wisdom continue to inspire the posterity to lead a meaningful life."
In a tweet, the Chief Minister said, "Humble reverence to the great saint, philosopher Swami Vivekananda ji on his jayanti. His thoughts have touched millions, taking India's ancient values to the world.
Let his life & works serve as a rousing source of inspiration for the younger generation. #NationalYouthDay."
Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted "Swami Vivekananda illuminated the world on Indian culture, spiritual values and eternal tradition. The life and philosophy of Yug Purush #SwamiVivekananda ji is like a light beam for the world. Happy #NationalYouthDay to all the people."
The nation is observing the 158th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, one of the greatest spiritual leaders of India. Swami Vivekananda had introduced Indian philosophies of Vedanta and yoga to the western world. He was considered a major force in the revival of Hinduism in India and bringing it to the status of major world religion in the late 19th century. Swami Vivekananda's birthday is also observed as National Youth Day in the country.
