Guwahati, Jan 11: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu wished people of the state on the auspicious ocassion of Torgya festival today.
‘My warm greetings to all on the auspicious beginning of the 3-day #Torgya festival. May the guardian deity Goddess Palden Lhamo bless us all with good mental and physical health and ward off all the negative forces from our life. Prayers for peace in the world,’ Khandu said in a tweet.
Torgya is also known as Tawang-Torgya which is an annual festival that is held at the Tawang Monastery in Arunachal Pradesh. The three day festival which is held between 10 to 12 January every year is is a Monpa celebration.The main aim of celebrating the festival is to ward off any kind of external aggression and to protect people from natural disasters.
Khandu also wished the Aka community of the state on the ocassion of Sarok festival today. ‘Warm wishes and greetings to #Aka community of East Kameng district on the auspicious occasion of #Sarok festival. May our Mother Earth bless the mankind with peace, progress and prosperity,’ the Chief Minsiter tweeted.
Sarok festival is mainly celebrated by the Aka community of the state and the Sarok celebration marks the prayer to Mother Earth for well being of all mankind.
