Guwahati, Jan 11: Manipur police and security forces have destroyed illicit poppy plantations in the state, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said.
N Biren Singh took to Twitter lauding the efforts of police and security forces in destroying the poppy plantations. "WAR ON DRUGS:- Mission since 2018 July 18 .
In Continuation today NAB With security forces destroyed around 70 acres of illicit poppy plantation at the Maharani hill range .Till date 1420 acres of poppy plantation have been destroyed in this 2020-2021 season," the CM tweeted.
Earlier N Biren Singh said in a Tweet, "WAR ON DRUGS:- well done CCPUR police! On 8/1/2021, CCP Police led by SDPO CCP along with OC Sangaikot PS, Women Police, NAB and Forest Department conducted Drive against illegal Poppy Cultivation at Songpeh and Molneiphai under Sangaikot Subdivision."
The cultivation of poppy and production of drugs has emerged as a new challenge for Manipur Police. There are massive cultivations of poppy in various areas in the state.
