Guwahati, Jan 23: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa paid tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 125th birth anniversary. The day is also celebrated as Parakram Diwas.
Paying humble tributes to the great freedom fighter Sonowal said that the life of Netaji is as an inspiration to all as he had ignited India with his spirit of nationalism and unbridled valour.
‘Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose ignited India with his spirit of nationalism and unbridled valour. His life is an inspiration to all of us. My tributes to the iconic freedom fighter on his jayanti. #ParakramDivas,’ Sonowal said in a tweet.
Himanta also paid tributes to the national hero and tweeted, ‘One individual may die for an idea, but that idea will, after his death, incarnate itself in a thousand lives~ Netaji. Tribute to great freedom fighter #NetajiSubhasChandraBose on his 125th Jayanti. His indomitable spirit & selfless service to nation is an inspiration for all.’
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose who was born to advocate Janakinath Bose in Odisha's Cuttack on January 23, 1897 went on to play a key role in the freedom movement of India. Netaji is also known for establishing the Azad Hind Fauj. While there is controversy over Bose's death in a plane crash in Taipei on August 18, 1945, the Central government had in an RTI in 2017 confirmed that he had died in the incident.
