Guwahati, Jan 23: Home Minister Amit Shah today arrived in Shillong to chair the 69th plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC).
The North Eastern Council is the nodal agency for the economic and social development of the North Eastern Region which consists of eight states.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma welcomed Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister of State (Ind Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region, Dr Jitendra Singh for the meeting to be held in Shillong.

Meanwhile, media persons in Shillong have decided to boycott NEC meeting after they were asked to leave the venue.
Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to Assam and Meghalaya.
