Guwahati, Jan 22: Indian Olympian gymnast Dipa Karmakar has been honored with the prestigious Tripura Bivushan Award by the Tripura Government in the first ever State Civil Award ceremony.
Dipa Karmakar took to Instagram to share a photo of her award ceremony. Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and other dignitaries are also seen in the picture. Dipa captioned the photo as, "Thank you Government of Tripura for recognising my efforts and honouring me with the prestigious Tripura Bivushan Award in the first ever State Civil Award ceremony."
Dipa Karmakar is a Padma Shri and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awardee. She is the first Indian female gymnast to win a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Dipa is also the first Indian to win a bronze medal at the Asian Gymnastics Championships and the first Indian female gymnast to compete in the Olympics.
