Guwahati, Jan 25: In three separate operations, troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force (BSF), foiled attempt of narcotics smuggling at Indo-BD Border and seized 18 kgs of banned ganja, 710 bottles of Phensedyl from bordering area of village Kaiterbari/Sitai, and village Daribas in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal on Sunday, according to a press statement.
Acting on a tip-off, BSF troops from Border Out Post (BOP) Sitai of 100 Battalion carried out special operation in general area of village Kaiterbari under Sitai Police Station in Coochbehar district (West Bengal) and seized 18 Kgs Ganja and 250 bottles of Phensedyl, while the consignments were trying to be smuggled from India to Bangladesh.
In the second operation, troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Chitracoot of 100 Battalion carried out special operation in general area of village Sitai under Sitai Police Station in Cooch Behar (WB) and seized 160 bottles of Phensedyl, while the consignments were trying to be smuggled from India to Bangladesh.
Seized items were handed over to Sitai Police Station for further disposal.
In third operation, BSF troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Daribas of 38th battalion of the BSF carried out special operation in general area of village Daribas Police Station under Dinhata, district Cooch Behar (WB) and seized 300 bottles of Phensedyl, while the consignments were trying to be “smuggled from India to Bangladesh”.
Seized narcotics items have been handed over to police station Dinhata for further disposal.
Keeping in view the vulnerability of border, heightened activities of the smugglers and anti-national elements on the border, BSF troops are always alert towards the issues of trans-border crimes & illegal infiltration and are making all out efforts to prevent commission of such crimes.
