Guwahati, Jan 29: President Ram Nath Kovind today started his address in the Parliament with the poem of Assam Kesri Ambikagiri Raichoudhury and paid homage to the great thinker.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal took to Twitter saying, "Assam Keshari Ambikagiri Raychowdhury is one of the sons of India, who has glorified the greatness, integrity and patriotism of the country with her great deeds. The Hon'ble President started his address in the Parliament with the poem of the great thinker and paid homage to him at the national level." (roughly translated from Sonowal's tweet)
President Kovind's tweet read as, ""কবি, অসম কেশৰী অম্বিকাগিৰী ৰায়চৌধুৰীয়ে ৰাষ্ট্ৰপ্ৰেমৰ ভাৱেৰে কৈছিল:
ঔম তৎসৎ ভাৰত মহৎ, এক চেতনাত, এক ধ্যানত,
এক সাধনাত, এক আৱেগত, এক হৈ যা, এক হৈ যা।
ভাৰতৰ মহানতা পৰম সত্য। এক চেতনাত, এক ধ্যানত, এক সাধনাত, এক আৱেগত, এক হৈ যোৱা, এক হৈ যোৱা।"
Ambikagiri Raichoudhury was an Assamese poet, playwright and patriot all rolled in one. He took part in the Independence Movement for India and was imprisoned by the British for the same.
