Guwahati, Jan 30: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today said that land patta allotments to the indigenous landless families of the state are being carried out with the aim of safeguarding their rights, as no community can make progress without having rights on their own land.
Sonowal attended the 38th triennial general conference of All Assam Tribal Sangha at Makaria in Morigaon district today. The CM commended the organisation for their dedicated efforts towards upliftment of the Scheduled Tribe communities of the state.
Addressing the public, the CM said that the State Govt, under the guidance of PM Narendra Modi, has taken numerous steps for protecting the rights and socio-economic transformation of all the tribal communities of Assam.
"Our Govt has taken measures for permanent rehabilitation of the indigenous people of Laika - Dodhia. Around 1,300 affected families will be provided Rs 1 lakh each by the Govt, the CM announced," a tweet from the CMO read.
"The CM also urged the organisation to inspire the new generation towards education, culture and sports to propel all-round development of the state," said a CMO tweet.
