Guwahati, May 3: The BJP-led alliance has retained power in Assam by winning total 75 seats in the 126-member Assam Assembly. The BJP has won 60 seats while its allies AGP won nine seas and United People's Party , Liberal (UPPL) won six seats. It is the first time in the state when a non-Congress party/alliance has retained power for the second consecutive term.
The Congress-led Grand Alliance managed to win only 50 seats including 29 by Congress, 16 by AIUDG, four by Bodoland People's Front (BPF) and one seat by CPI-M.
