Guwahati, Jan 27: The banned United Liberation from of Assam (Independent) or ULFA (I) has set February 16 deadline for Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure Limited to ‘make arrangement’ for release of its two abducted officials now in the custody of the ULFA-I and NSCN/GPRN outfits.

The ULFA-I in a statement emailed to the media here warned the company against exerting pressure engaging the Indian Army for release of the officials and cautioned of stern action against one of the abducted officials Ram Kumar from Bihar on February 17 in case the company fails to secure release of the officials by February 16 next.

The two officials were abducted from the company’s worksite in Arunachal Pradesh one month ago.

The ULFA-I further warned that it would ban Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure Limited in Assam and the rest of the entire South East Asia and called upon indigenous people and organisations engaged by the company to look for alternative livelihood option.

The banned outfit further cautioned public sector Oil India Limited (OIL) against engaging Indian or foreign oil exploration/production companies in the oil fields of the region for rapid extraction of crude oil. The outfit stated that such oil companies would not be allowed to operate in the greater interest of preservation of natural resources of Assam and asked the locals engaged with such companies to look for other jobs.
