Guwahati, May 8: North Eastern Tea Association (NETA) has appealed to the Govt of Assam to urgently organise COVID Vvaccination camps in tea estates.
In a letter to the Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Dept, Samir Kumar Sinha, and separate letters to all Deputy Commissioners, NETA has urged them to protect the tea garden population from the 2nd wave of COVID-19 pandemic by way of organising vaccination camps urgently in tea gardens.
"Already two tea estates in Dibrugarh district have been declared containment zones after detection of a large number of CODIV19 patients. Last year tea gardens did not face such problem like this year. Therefore, before things go beyond control, setting-up of vaccination camps in tea gardens is of utmost importance at this hour. NETA has assured to fully co-operate with the Government in organising the vaccination camps," said the NETA petition.
