Guwahati, May 28: Chairing a high level meeting in Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNP&TR) in Assam on Thursday Assam Chief Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has made some significant approval to improve vigil, protection measures and infrastructure in the world famous UNESCO Heritage Site.
The Chief Minister Dr Sarma held the meeting with senior officials of the Forest department and DCs and SPs of the adjoining districts in which the areas of KNP and Tiger Reserve fall.
Following decisions were taken in the meeting:
Formation of a new Special Task Force for protecting Kaziranga National Park.
Providing sophisticated weapons, satellite phones and advanced training to forest personnel.
Approval for raising the ration allowance of the forest personnel from Rs.830 to Rs.2000 per month.
Ramping up infrastructure and creating highlands for safety and security to the animals from annual flood, poaching and road accidents.
