Guwahati, August 11: Assam government today decied to hike the DA/DR of government employees and pensioners by 17 per cent making it 28 per cent from existing 11 per cent. The hike will be effective from July 1, 2021. The state Cabinet took a decsion in this regard today.
Finance Minister, Ajanta Neog informed that Assam government would incur Rs 1700 crore per year to pay the enhanced DA/DR to the employees and pensioners.
The state cabinet today approved initiation of recruitment to 8855 jobs in the state health department in the ranks of doctors, nurses, paramedical staff etc. and the process of recruitment will start from September 1 next, according to the health minister, Keshab Mahanta.
With these posts in health department, Assam government has so far approved recruitment to to 52500 posts inthegovernment including over 22000 jobs in education department and another over 22000 jobs in police department. This is part of the BJP-led government's avowed plan to recruit one lakh unemployed into government jobs.
Moreover, the State Cabinet today decided that 6600 unemployed youths of the state at the rate of 50 per Assembly Constituency would be provided 45-day training in driving. They would be provided driving license after completion of the training. In case some of these youths want to buy passenger vehicles after the training, Assam government will provide Rs one lakh subsidy per head to help their venture to become self-employed.
