Guwahati, Jan 25: Assam Police additional DGP (special branch), Hiren Chandra Nath will be conferred the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service while 13 other police officials from the state have been named for Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Along with Assam, a total of 39 police personnel from the Northeast will be honoured on the occasion.
The Assam’s additional DGP, along with the 13 police personnel will be among the 939 police personnel from the country to be awarded police medals on Republic Day tomorrow.
According to a report, the number of gallantry medals will be in three categories, 189 police medal for gallantry (PMG), 88 President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) and 662 Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM) awarded.
The 13 police personnel from Assam to be honoured with the Police Medal are Horen Tokbi, commandant, RTS, Dergaon; Shomez Uddin, inspector (APRO) Goalpara PR station; Nurul Islam, ASI, 24th Assam Police (IR) Battalion, ; Achyut Dutta, ASI, APRO, Majuli; Sunil Mili, havilder (AB), Police Training College, Dergaon; Mujammil Hoque, constable (UB), Karbi Anglong; Ranju Moni Saikia, women constable (UB), Karbi Anglong; Bipul Borah, constable (UB), Karbi Anglong; Hiren Hazarika, Bulon Gohain, Alok Paul, Jagat Tamang, all constables from Tinsukia; and Jay Deep Sharma, inspector (AB), commando battalion, North Guwahati.
