India reports first case of new coronavirus variant XE from Mumbai

Dibrugarh : 6th April :One case of the new Covid variant, XE, was detected in Mumbai today. Out of 376 samples tested, one turned positive for the XE variant.

The patient, a 50-year-old woman, is fully vaccinated against the virus and has shown no symptoms so far, Mumbai's civic body BMC said. She also suffers from no comorbidities.

Last week, the World Health Organisation (WHO) had issued a warning against a new mutant 'XE' variant of Omicron, that may be more transmissible than any other strain of Covid-19.
