Meghalaya HC starts proceedings in hybrid mode

Guwahati, Nov 9: In an innovative step that is going to help both litigants as well as counsels, the High Court of Meghalaya has introduced hybrid mode for conducting court proceedings.

The court registry in a statement informed that the High Court has completed the process of setting up of infrastructure and system in place for implementation of livestreaming of court proceedings.

The High Court of Meghalaya is functioning in a hybrid mode where both physical and virtual modes are operating together for all the courts.
Consequently, advocates and litigants are at liberty to attend court proceedings either physically in person or virtually through video conference. The hybrid system has diluted the inability to access justice due to the distance; it saves time and diminishes the number of unwarranted adjournments sought on the ground that one cannot appear as one is attending court in another jurisdiction.

The court proceedings of the Benches of the High Court have commenced live streaming from today. Litigants and the public no longer have to waste their entire day to view how their matter is proceeding, but instead can view the court proceedings from the comfort of their offices and homes.

The statement issued by the High Court registry further observed that the hybrid mode of court proceeding will also help the common man to better understand the functioning of the court. Further, young lawyers will get the opportunity of witnessing senior advocates from other parts of the country participate on the virtual platform.
