Guwahati, Nov 26: The final journey of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi began from his official residence in Guwahati today. The last rites of the former Assam Chief Minister will be held at Nabagraha crematorium today.
The funeral procession of former chief minister halted at the government residence of Late Tarun Gogoi in Minister’s Colony for a short time. Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reached Minister’s Colony at the former chief minister’s official government residence to pay last tributes.
The mortal remains of former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi were brought to the church at Rukminigaon from his official residence at Dispur in Guwahati where people paid there last respects.
From the church at Rukminigaon, Tarun Gogoi’s mortal remains were brought to the naamghar at Zoo road where rituals were conducted.
Rich tributes were paid to former Assam CM Tarun Gogoi at Burha Masjid in Ambari. The funeral procession of late Tarun Gogoi reached Ugratara Temple where people paid last tributes to the veteran politician.
From Ugratara Temple, the mortal remains of the former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi was brought ro Navagraha crematorium where the last rites will be performed.
Tarun Gogoi passed away on Monday. He was 84. Gogoi's health condition started deteriorating last Monday. He had tested positive for COVID-19 in August. The veteran Congress leader had suffered multi-organ failure and was on ventilation.
