Manipur CM greets state on Ningol Chakkouba

Guwahati, Nov 17: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh today greeted the state on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
In a tweet, Chief Minister Singh said: "I convey my heartiest greetings and warm wishes to the people of Manipur, especially the Ningols, on the auspicious occasion of #NingolChakkouba. May this festival foster the true spirit of love, goodwill and compassion in our society."
Ningol Chakouba is a popularly celebrated festival in Manipur. While Ningol means ‘married woman’, Chakouba means ‘invitation for feast’. During this festival married women are invited to their parents’ home for a feast. The festival celebrates the bond of affections among brothers and sisters, daughters and parents. It is an important family festival in Manipur.
