Guwahati, 2 June: Thirteen more COVID-19 patients were discharged today from hospitals in Assam after they tested negative for COVID-19 two times in a row. Ten of them were released from Guwahati Medical College Hospitals (GMCH), two from Barpeta Medical College and Hospital and one from Diphu Medical College and Hospital.
In all 53 patients were released from the hospital today in Assam where number of discharged patients stands at 337 as on date. Another forty COVID patients were released from hospitals earlier in the day.
Meanwhile, Health Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that the month of May has seen a sudden spike in COVID-19 positive cases in Assam and it has meant ramping up testing facilities and augmenting preparedness.
“At a meeting with Kokrajhar district administration, we emphasized on the need for testing, quarantining and timely treatment,” tweeted the Health Minister.
The minister also Bilasipara Sub-Division Civil Hospital in Dhubri district and interacted with doctors on COVID-19 situation and related preparedness. He also held a meeting with the district administration advised them to observe all precaution without causing any inconvenience to people.
