Guwahati, June 20: The Kamrup Metropolitan district administration has declared containment zone along the Borpathar area in Basistha in view of the detection of a COVID-19 positive case in the area.
An official communiqué informed that in view of the detection of a COVID-19 positive person in Borpathar, the area has been declared as containment zone and has been sealed off to prevent further spread of the virus.
Any unauthorised entry and exit into the containment zone has been barred. Any movement of unauthorised individual and vehicle within the zone has been prohibited. All directions regarding maintenance of social distancing will be strictly enforced. The order issued by the administration warned that any violation of the order will attract action under the Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 and the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
On Thursday one Sujit Rai tested positive for COVID-19 in Borpathar. The patient had returned from Bihar. Upon his arrival, the patient was put under quarantine at quarantine centre and later at his residence. The patient has now been shifted to hospital.
A local from the area Mantu Dey said, "The family of the positive patent is still not maintaining social distancing norms. The family which is into milk selling profession is still delivering milk to other families. We are living in a constant state of panic and fear.”
