Do not go out unless necessary, Sonowal urges people

Guwahati, July 2: Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal today urged the people not to go out unless it is absolutely necessary to fight COVID-19 pandemic.
Sonowal also asked the people to be extremely careful and follow official guidelines to protect themselves from the deadly disease. He further urged the people to wear a mask and maintain social distancing at all times.
‘I urge the people of Assam to be extremely careful in this fight against #COVID19. Do not go out unless absolutely necessary, follow official guidelines, wear a mask and maintain social distancing at all times,’ Sonowal tweeted.
The State Government had imposed a complete lockdown in the Guwahati city for 14 days that started from Sunday midnight due to rise in number of COVID-19 cases in the city.
Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state now stands at 8955, out of which 3109 are active cases. Around 5831 persons have recovered and 12 deaths are reported from the disease so far.
