Guwahati, July 5: Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananada Sonowal extended greetings on Guru Purnima today, saying it is a day to honour the gurus whose teachings and guidance have led us through life.
‘On the auspicious occasion of #GuruPurnima, I offer my deepest respect to all our Gurus whose teachings and guidance have led us through life,’ Sonowal tweeted.
Guru Purnima, also known as Vyasa Purnima marks the birthday of Ved Vyasa. This day is celebrated as a festival in India, Nepal and Bhutan by the Hindus, Jains and Buddhists on the full moon day in the Hindu month of Ashadha (June–July). Guru Purnima is a tradition devoted to all the spiritual and academic Gurus, who are evolved or enlightened humans, ready to share their wisdom with very little or no monetary expectation, based on Karma Yoga.
