Guwahati, July 15: Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal today offered prayers at the historic Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar in Jorhat and sought blessings for development of the state.
Visiting the Namghar, Sonowal said that it is one of the most revered places of worship and a sanctuary of spirituality of Assam.
‘Offered prayers at the Namghar and sought blessings for continued development of the state, ‘ Sonowal tweeted.
Dhekiakhowa Bornaamghar was established by saint-reformer Madhavdeva . He kindled an earthen lamp there, which has been continuously burning since 1528, being religiously refuelled with mustard oil by the priests till date.
The Namghar is located at Dhekiakhowa village and is 15 km towards the east of Jorhat city. Because of its historical association and large campus, the Namghar is referred as the ‘ Bornaamghar’.
