A team from the health department conducted tests on over 100 residents of Uttarayan Apartment at Bhetapara area here on Sunday. One person was tested positive for COVID-9 during the screening. The person is associated with a business organisation.
“We have been conducting such tests with the idea of tracing people infected with COVID-19 and isolating them, thereby preventing transmission of the virus to others. From today, we have decided to conduct tests on residents of apartments,” Kamrup Metro deputy commissioner, Biswajit Pegu told media persons.
Over 50,000 rapid antigen tests have been conducted so far in the city starting from mass tests in the hotspot areas. Random tests have also been conducted in shops and offices since last Tuesday.
“I appeal to every city resident to come forward to the screening centres for the tests,” he said.
The DC further said that the administration aimed to conduct 1 lakh tests by August 10.
