Sonowal lays foundation stone of PMAY-U Houses in Nagaon

Guwahati, July 27: Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal today laid the foundation stone for construction works of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) scheme at the Griha Shilanyas 2020 program in Nagaon.
Laying the foundation stone, Sonowal said it is yet another step towards realising PM Narendra Modi’s vision of providing pucca houses to all.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said that with the aim to construct 25,000 houses across Assam, the PMAY Urban scheme will realise the aspirations of affordable housing of economically weaker sections of the state. The initiative will also benefit skilled migrant labourers who returned to the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sonowal added.
Sonowal presented Rs 30,000 each to beneficiaries as last tranche of instalment of the first phase under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban scheme. The CM also presented Rs 80,000 each to beneficiaries as first tranche of installment of the second phase under the scheme.
The Chief Minister further said that the government is working towards ensuring pucca houses for every citizen of the state and also sought the cooperation of each and every individual so that intended beneficiaries get their own home without hassle.
On the occasion were present Minister Keshab Mahanta and Pijush Hazarika, MLA Rupak Sarma, Ramakanta Dewri and Dimbeswar Das.
