Sonowal, Himanta remembers martyrs of Alaboi Battle on ‘Alaboi Smriti Divas’

Guwahati, Aug 5: Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid tribute to the soldiers from Assam who attained martyrdom in the historic Alaboi battle against the Mughals in 1669.
On the occasion of ‘Alaboi Smriti Divas’, Sonowal and Himanta attended a programme held at Dadara in Kamrup district today. Water resources minister Keshab Mahanta was also present on the occasion.
‘The Battle of Alaboi represents unity, sacrifice & determination of the Assamese people in protecting our motherland. We should take inspiration from the valour of the brave martyrs to counter divisive forces in our society,’ Sonowal said.
Sonowal also announced that a war memorial will be constructed to honour the sacrifice made by the soldiers of Assam during the Battle of Alaboi.
