Guwahati, 6 August: Tibetan spiritual leader, Dalai Lama today made an appeal to the world leaders and the people in general to strive for world peace on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of bombing of Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the World War II
“On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I take the opportunity to urge governments, organizations and individuals to rededicate themselves to making the achievement of peace the centrepiece of our lives,” Dalai Lama said today.
The United States detonated two nuclear weapons over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9 in 1945, respectively. The two bombings killed between 129,000 and 226,000 people, most of whom were civilians.
